How to choose 3D letters

3D letters are a great element of marking of interiors and spaces on buildings. They attract attention and increase the attractiveness of your place. The appearance of them can be designed in a variety of ways. When you decide on 3D letters, first select whether it should be a dimensional or channel letter.

Dimensional or channel letters

The dimensional letters are unlit. They are designed for interiors and exteriors.

The channel letters are equipped with lighting equipment inside. The inscriptions made of them consist of separated 3d signs and can emit various lighting effects that will be visible on the buildings during the day and at night.

Now it is time to choose the materials from which your 3D characters will be made. The production uses plastic and metal, which is painted on the selected color.

The most commonly used plastic materials are acrylic, foamed and hard PVC and a vinyl.

The most commonly used metals are aluminum, aluminum composite (dibond), sometimes the productions are made of bronze, stainless steel or brass. Another material for the production of light, dimensional letters is styrofoam.

Style of your lettering

When you choose backlit letters, they add extra prestige to your place. They are eye-catching even from a long distance and are readable in different weather, both at night and during the day. They are characterized by a long life. Illumination of letters with LED diodes is also cheap in operation.

Several ways to illuminate of 3d signs.

There are several ways to illuminate of 3d signs:

– 3D letters with illuminating face – the front side of the letter illuminates

– 3D letters illuminating with the glow behind the letters, this effect is called “halo” ; letters are mounted at a distance to the wall, the light from the inside of the sign escapes from the back, reflects off the background and dissipates around the sign

– 3D letters with illuminating face and sides made entirely of plexiglass – used for smaller signs, used mainly in interiors.

Illuminated 3D sign can be made of plexiglass with opal (milk plexiglass), plexiglass dyed to a specific color or covered with a special foil, transmitting light. The sides of the sign can be made of aluminum tape painted for a given color, and the back of PVC.

If you decide to choose spatial letters, remember that their style should refer to the remaining elements that make up your brand. It is very important that the advertising and information message should be consistent.
